Rant ANTM spoilers

I'd just like to get this off my chest, even though I didn't blog about ANTM regularly...or at all.

I frigging hate that Saleisha won. She was so boring and commercial. Plus I found her personality kind of ugly. How bratty can you be, that you'll refuse to share a double bed with someone, when it's clearly meant to be shared and than get all annoyed when Heather gets all upset, because you won't share, and she's left without a bed to sleep in?

She was also a huge brown noser.

That is all.

Plaid is where it's at

Yes, I'm procrastinating, but I felt the overwhelming need to tell the world how much I want a shirt like this:
Er... that is all.

To combat holiday stress, post about coats.

With 16 days left 'til Christmas I am beginning to feel the stress. Not just about all the gift buying brew ha ha, (although my friends and I have yet to do our Secret Santa), but because the teachers have decided to pile it on before Christmas break. I have to finish a photoshop scrapbook for yearbook (which was technically due last week), two scripts, and a literary analysis for Writer's Craft and a Philosophy Essay, all due in the next week or so.

I've been pretty good about getting some stuff done today, and as a break I'm going to write a little bit about coats.

Currently I own a nice, military-like, black pea-coat from Le Chateau.

Pictured here:
and here.
Although I love this coat. I'd really like something just a little longer, with a more defined waist.

I love the colours on these:

This one looks warm:
And this one is cute and dainty:
These are my Top 2:

Unfortunately, they hover in the price range of $150-250. *sigh*
I might have to physically go in a Le Chateau store at some point, because they have some nice jackets, but they don't show any on the website.

"This is one doodle that can't be undid, Homeskillet"

The movie Juno is coming to wide release on December 14, and my friends and I have been eagerly awaiting this since September. Hopefully it will come to Kingston.

In my obsessive IMDB'ing, I have discovered that at free screenings t-shirts were handed out including one described as:
An orange shirt that says "Paulie Bleeker is Totally Boss" and has silhouettes of the running guys.

Unfortunately, I cannot find a picture. But how totally cool is that t-shirt?!?!

I did however find a picture of another one, that's equally cool
I'm so excited for this.

"I want to eat an alpaca"

Something the boyfriend said today, which pertains to this post.

Seeing as I didn't know so many people actually read this [I'm looking at you Lauren and Gillian] I shall try to update this more regularly. I don't know how fashion related it will be though.

What some of you don't know [yes I'm pretending I have more than two or so readers] I like to knit. It's very relaxing, and I love the end product you get. Recently I made glovelettes for Gillian for her birthday [unfortunately no picture] and I'm now currently making a scarf for the boyfriend, but I've put him under the impression I'm making it for myself. This plan is inherently flawed as he's pretty smart about figuring these things out, but I need to use my spare during school to work on it.

It looks like this:
And it's actually very easy to make once you get the hang of the pattern. Except his is rust coloured and really soft since I'm using this yarn that's 60% Merino Wool, 20% Alpaca and 20% silk. Pattern under here.

Of boatnecks and black T dresses

Finally received the American Apparel clothes I ordered through a friend of a friend, which included the infamous black T dress that I blather endlessly about. Frankly, it's amazing despite the pillowcase-y-ness and raw hem. [Actually I like how loose it is around the middle, if it was more form fitting, it would probably err on the side of slutty.

I also got these shirts as well, except they look much better in person. Does anybody else think this new model just looks horribly bored and washed out?

I've also been watching a ridiculous amount of Reality Bites since I bought it like three weeks ago. It's so good, but I think it's because I think Winona Ryder was really cool before her shoplifting ways, although I still think she's cool.

And her clothing isn't terrible for 1994, except for the odd vest and pants that are way too short for her.

Lastly I'll end with a video that features some really cute, nerdy [meant int the best possible way] guys and girls performing a lip dub to Flagpole Sitta by Harvey Danger. An awesome song by the way.

and another cute video I love...

Montreal -40

So Montreal was sort of a hit and a bust at the same time. Clothes-wise that is, as in I only bought two things.

First of all I got this amazing dress from Urban Outfitters for 30 bucks.
Except I got it in a lovely pattern with red and white dots all over it. It looks better than it sounds I swear. It totally looks like it's from the 40s and the boyfriend loves it. He told me how cute it was three times the first time I wore it.
I also got this AA ruched bra in eggplant. It's kind of uncomfortable so I wouldn't recommend this for everyday use, but I don't own a strapless bra, so this is perfect for a night on the town or something.

My friends, Gillian and Alie bought some spiffy hats from Urban Outfitters as well.
Don't they look mah-velous.

Coming soon a retrospective of Emily and her amazing hat collection.

Brr it's cold in here

Finally! Finally some cold weather. I bet some of you are scoffing right now, and as much as I enjoy summer, I like my autumn weather. It means I can break out cute jackets and toques.

Especially my lavender beret I recently bought at Value Village.
Unfortunately no pictures as my camera is still broken-ish, but I am just thinking of the endless outfit possibilities.

Makes me want to get a jacket like this, even though I kind of hate swing jackets.

In other news I am going to Montreal next week for the very last Film Society trip. My friends and I plan to hit up the usual places like Urban Outfitters, possibly H+M if we can find one and of course American Apparel.

Wishlist: The black t-shirt and the black t-dress which I have raved about too many times than I care to admit as well as this new add-on.
I'm a sucker for the boat neck. Collarbones and shoulders are sexy damnit!
I promise my next post will have no mention of AA. I swear.

P.S. Got my blonde wig for the Edie costume, except it's a bob with bangs and looks really weird on me. It's not Edie at all so I'm going to lend it to my friend Gillian who is going as Margot Tenenbaum. Man, I love that movie.

Edie Edie Edie

I watched Factory Girl on Sunday and it was terrible, but I now have a mini obsession on Edie Sedgwick.

I have decided I'm going to be her for Halloween. Like so hipster, riiiight? Kidding. Although I do like my costumes to be on the more obscure side of the spectrum.

I figure my checklist will include:
1. Fake eyelashes
2. Heavy eye make-up with liquid liner [which I am the master at applying]
3. A t-shirt dress of some sort, at least something with a mini-skirt
4. Blonde wig
5. Huge, chandelier earrings.

On that thought, how cool would it have been to have lived in the sixties? I'm always dreaming about what it would be like, but I'm always torn between the forties, fifties, sixties, and seventies.

Back to drool cruel school

Alas school is back in session, and it was a strange feeling being a returning grad and not having all my friends at school with me.

I didn't wear anything special, for I commit fashion sin by not wearing new clothes on the first day of school. It's silly, but everybody does it and they always look like they're trying too hard.

Good
- My friend Lauren looked absolutely divine in a slate sleeveless American Apparel hoodie over a white shirt with one of her signature bead necklaces [unfortunately I can't remember the colour of the necklace. Green?]
*note this is actually the forest colour as the slate grey one was not there.

-A girl in my Writer's Craft class sporting wide-leg trousers that, from what I saw, did not swallow up her feet. Bravo!

Bad
- A girl in high-waisted skinny jeans. And I mean high, higher than her belly button. She looked so trendy it physically hurt me. Gaaaaah.

- An emo boy that had the exact same haircut as my mom. My mom, sisters and I got our haircuts on Saturday (I got wispy bangs à la Scarlett Johansson in Lost in Translation), and my mom's haircut is actually quite cool. Sort of like Victoria Beckham's new 'do but with bangs and two long pieces of hair on both sides of her face. My mom definitely pulls the style off better than this boy.

Ugly
-There is this boy at our school that wears jeans that are two tight [especially around the ankles] and shirts with David Bowie, or sarcastic/ironic statements on them. David Bowie is cool, a shirt that says "I'm a poser" is not. Partly because most people wouldn't get it, and the fact that he couldn't pull it off.

Actual Autumn Wishlist

You know how I said in my last post how I really want to stray away from black clothes because I feel like I already own enough black clothes and it makes me feel emo? Well I'm a hypocrite, of sorts, as my autumn wish-list consists of a lot of black.

Damn it for being so classy!

1. Black crew-neck cardigan

Like this...except picture it in black:2. Black T
3. A T Dress:

In any colour, although I was coveting the American Apparel eggplant one which has disappeared off of the website. Hopefully it's still in stores *crosses fingers*
5. The American Apparel Bandeau dress , because it's so awesome... and I could use it as a skirt most of the time. And I'd get this in black because every girl needs a little black dress, and it will go with everything.
These AA socks sort of give off a slutty basketball player from the early eighties, but they also look really cool *hangs head in shame* It is more likely I'll buy those leggings I wrote about in a previous post before I ever bought these , but a girl can still lust can't she?

P.S. I'm totally going to try and makes this sweater. $62 Urban Outfitters? For shame.

Autumn Wishlist

I'd like to first announce that I am now the proud owner of purple hi-top converse.

I could have sworn I had a picture in hi-top form, and unfortunately my camera is on the fritz, so this is the only picture I have on my computer.

And of course right after crossing those shoes off of my wish-list, I have added another item: a shrunken black cardigan.

Again the only picture I could find.

I have been trying to phase out having just black sweaters in my wardrobe [my black hoodie makes me feel very emo] but how classy would a shrunken black cardigan look. You could wear it with anything or at any occasion. I sort of picture it like this red cardigan I have, which I absolutely adore but is beginning to fall apart. *sigh*
I can't believe I passed up on buying one at H+M when I had the chance *head desk*

I'll Believe in Anything...

You can group girls into two groups fashion-wise: Girls who like leggings and girls who don't. (There is the small percentage who are indifferent, but I think that sort of puts them in the latter group).
I personally was not a fan of leggings, but that's going by the generic leggings outfit of black ones that cut off mid-calf- making most legs look stumpy- with a denim mini.
And yet, the American Apparel whore that I am, is completely in lust with these:
They seem more like tights then leggings, and can be easily disguised to look like as such for these cut off around the ankle (but would look odd with sandals). Plus, I kind of like the idea of looking like a superhero.

"Oh god. I think I might be pregnant with the next Jewish Italian Messiah"

Mermaids was on Much More Music last night as well as this afternoon, and as it is one of my favourite movies to watch on a lazy Sunday afternoon (preferably in fall as this film has beautiful autumn scenery) I watched it both times, and will probably watch it the next time they play it on Wednesday. I love watching movies set in different times, as the clothes in this are pretty cool, but I mostly love this movie because I have this thing for Winona Ryder movies from the early nineties. Mermaids, Reality Bites, Edward Scissorhands...

Anyway, Toronto is great, albeit kind of chilly. I picked up the American Apparel shorts I was coveting as well as an Urban Outfitters shirt I saw on the website.
The picture doesn't adequately portray the colour of this shirt. It's actually a much darker shade of blue, yet bright. This picture makes it look kind of dull.

I also got this very soft, dusty pink tank top from Club Monaco that looks really cool layered under the above tee. If only my camera was working.

For Tonight You're Only Here to Know...

To start this tired rambling, long overdue post, I'm going to start with something that appears to have nothing to do with clothes; oh, but it does. You see today I received acupuncture for the first time. Quite an interesting experience I must say; thankfully I am not terribly squeamish around needles...except when I get blood drawn *le shudder*

The reason for doing this is that I get really bad hay fever towards the middle of August right up until the first frost. Believe me, it's not pretty. So, ma mère decided that the best treatment would be acupuncture, and despite the fact that I felt like some hipster/aging hippie who is so cool because they follow more natural medicinal ways, I really hope it will make my symptoms less intense.

For it to really help I have to start exercising more. This is perfectly fine and everything, and I figure my best option is to start jogging, but that might be a little difficult when you don't have proper jogging clothes for the summer i.e. shorts. (See clothes, I was not lying)

My mom and I are going to head up to Toronto on Friday to see Lewis Black at this Just for Laughs thing (I know, Just for Laughs in Toronto? Blasphemy), so it is the perfect opportunity to do some shopping.

My wish-list is as follows:
For running.
Lapis, Forest or Cranberry? I can't decide
Most excellent over jeans.

Also can not decide.

I have more clothes from others stores, but this post already has enough words and pictures, so perhaps another time. I'm also very tired.
