Why is it 19 degrees in November?

When I went home last weekend it was probably averaging 5 degrees. So I brought back my winter jacket and some hats. Now it's 19 degrees and sometimes I don't even need to wear my fall jacket when I go outside. 

I just want an excuse to wear my lavender beret.

Also my hair is in a bun, I did not go all radical and cut off my hair. Although that might be fun.

Emily and her hats: a retrospective

So as promised, a post about my friend Emily and her extensive hat collection. [Which I'm super jealous about, because I can't pull off hats nearly as well as she can]

January 2006: I made this hat for her two years ago, and it's an amazing purple colour that doesn't really photograph well. 

August 2006: One of her most popular hats, but she wore it out in the snow and it doesn't really fit anymore. She has found a replacement but no pictures. 

Summer 2006: Denny's night when we still had to wear crazy hats, and where syrup shots were common. 

February 2007: Probably Emily's most popular hat. There are more pictures of this hat than any other. Which made picking a picture to show off very difficult. I think this speaks for itself. 

March 2007: E is for Emily. I love this hat on her. It works with the tie you can't see. Although I haven't seen much of it since, the photo shoot with it was pretty darn cool.

May 2007: Happy Birthday to Emily. A hat and tie from Lauren. Unfortunately this is the only photo of it.

August 2007: The thrifted Vietnam[?] army beret, that you'll probably have to click to enlarge to get a better view. C'mon it's pretty sweet right? 

October 2007: Montreal. A hat you've already seen, but still cool. She likes the classic styles. 

June 2007: I threw this one in because it's still a hat photo, and she wore it for longer because it was a hat and she could. Ignore my gross lookingness. 

May 2007: It's Emily the bigoted lizard. [A bigot for Stephen Colbert if you read the text inside]

Knitwit

I don't know if I've mentioned this before, but I am a knitter. 

Now don't be all "gasp" and "aww" and "Isn't that a grandmother thing?" 

It's not. 

I find it relaxing, and you can usually find some pretty stylish patterns. At the moment most of my bookmarked patterns are on my other computer, but a personal favourite website of mine is Knitty.com. It's updated seasonally with about 20 or 25 new patterns. It's kind of like Christmas when it's updated. 

Anyway, I digress. The point is that I really like the slouchy hat look, but a) I could never find the right hat and b) what's the point of paying hard earned cash mon

ey for a hat when I can make one. 

Unfortunately, I did not like the look at first. There are two categories of girls: ones who can wear hats and others who can't. I'm in the latter category, because when I see myself in them sometimes I feel like a doofus. 

However, today in my infinite boredom, I decided to give the hat a second chance. And hey it didn't look too bad. 

So what is your opinion?

Montreal -40

So Montreal was sort of a hit and a bust at the same time. Clothes-wise that is, as in I only bought two things.

First of all I got this amazing dress from Urban Outfitters for 30 bucks.
Except I got it in a lovely pattern with red and white dots all over it. It looks better than it sounds I swear. It totally looks like it's from the 40s and the boyfriend loves it. He told me how cute it was three times the first time I wore it.
I also got this AA ruched bra in eggplant. It's kind of uncomfortable so I wouldn't recommend this for everyday use, but I don't own a strapless bra, so this is perfect for a night on the town or something.

My friends, Gillian and Alie bought some spiffy hats from Urban Outfitters as well.
Don't they look mah-velous.
