Groovy

Having a bit of a nostalgic seventies kick lately. My boyfriend recently bought a record player and has steadily become a vinyl addict, so sitting around in his living room listening to Cream has felt like a time warp.
Although I love so many decades for their styles, I've always had a connection with the seventies.

Love the floppy hats and muted colours

One of my favourite books and movies... although you know kind of depressing as hell.

Serge Gainsbourg, and Jane Birkin
70s inspired in my opinion.
I have a whole folder full of pictures that I was going to post, but that would probably go a little overboard, not to mention err on the side of redundant.

What I'd like to know dear readers is what decade or time period do you draw inspiration from? Or which one do you wish you could be transported to? I have a feeling I'd be perfectly content in some wood paneled, shag carpeted basement listening to records, but I have a hard time choosing...

Weird Trait

I am a bit of a film addict. A whiz at pop culture trivia and an all around film geek.

I watch so many movies and obsessively scour IMDb so much that I begin to recognize those character actors that appear in small parts of many films such as William Fichtner. I bet that name means nothing to you, but I can tell you that he was the corrupt bank clerk from the beginning of The Dark Knight, one of the experienced astronauts in Armageddon, the coach in Blades of Glory and the FBI agent from the TV show Prison Break [and I don't even watch that show]. I dare you to look him up.

One of my favourites is Bill Nighy, because he seems like a really nice, funny guy. Plus I think he has cool glasses.

You may recognize him as Billy Mack from Love Actually
You might not recognize him as Davy Jones from the Pirates of the Caribbean movies.
I think my point is that you should find one of those actors that you see everywhere but doesn't seem to get any love, and maybe right a nice post about them or their work. That is merely a suggestion though, because it could also come across as weird and creepy... hmmm. But I think we can all agree that Brad Pitt and George Clooney and Tom Cruise are getting overrated. All who agree slap my hand now.

Miittens

My boyfriend wants his own version of these Miittens [made to look like the hands Mii's get in the Wii bowling]. The pattern is for babies and completely adorable to boot, but I don't know if he can pull them off.

When you've left all of your accessories in your dorm...

You make your own.

I came across a couple pictures of neck-warmers and/or cowl-neck scarves.
That one is technically crochet which I can't for the life of me do, but I can knit, and this is the perfect project to do while I'm home for the time being.

I'm sorry for the Mac quality photo, alas I left my camera cord at school also, and my 12 year old sister 'claims' she doesn't know where hers is. This picture makes it look black but it's actually a really pretty shade of dark blue-y purple. I need to work out some kinks because it does roll up a lot, so it's not as effective as a scarf as I'd hoped, but one could try.

Nonetheless I'm pleased with this, and I have plenty of yarn left.
