"Oh god. I think I might be pregnant with the next Jewish Italian Messiah"

Mermaids was on Much More Music last night as well as this afternoon, and as it is one of my favourite movies to watch on a lazy Sunday afternoon (preferably in fall as this film has beautiful autumn scenery) I watched it both times, and will probably watch it the next time they play it on Wednesday. I love watching movies set in different times, as the clothes in this are pretty cool, but I mostly love this movie because I have this thing for Winona Ryder movies from the early nineties. Mermaids, Reality Bites, Edward Scissorhands...

Anyway, Toronto is great, albeit kind of chilly. I picked up the American Apparel shorts I was coveting as well as an Urban Outfitters shirt I saw on the website.
The picture doesn't adequately portray the colour of this shirt. It's actually a much darker shade of blue, yet bright. This picture makes it look kind of dull.

I also got this very soft, dusty pink tank top from Club Monaco that looks really cool layered under the above tee. If only my camera was working.

For Tonight You're Only Here to Know...

To start this tired rambling, long overdue post, I'm going to start with something that appears to have nothing to do with clothes; oh, but it does. You see today I received acupuncture for the first time. Quite an interesting experience I must say; thankfully I am not terribly squeamish around needles...except when I get blood drawn *le shudder*

The reason for doing this is that I get really bad hay fever towards the middle of August right up until the first frost. Believe me, it's not pretty. So, ma mère decided that the best treatment would be acupuncture, and despite the fact that I felt like some hipster/aging hippie who is so cool because they follow more natural medicinal ways, I really hope it will make my symptoms less intense.

For it to really help I have to start exercising more. This is perfectly fine and everything, and I figure my best option is to start jogging, but that might be a little difficult when you don't have proper jogging clothes for the summer i.e. shorts. (See clothes, I was not lying)

My mom and I are going to head up to Toronto on Friday to see Lewis Black at this Just for Laughs thing (I know, Just for Laughs in Toronto? Blasphemy), so it is the perfect opportunity to do some shopping.

My wish-list is as follows:
For running.
Lapis, Forest or Cranberry? I can't decide
Most excellent over jeans.

Also can not decide.

I have more clothes from others stores, but this post already has enough words and pictures, so perhaps another time. I'm also very tired.

I'm in a hair conundrum...

and it's bugging me way more than I'd like it too.

Since I saw this picture on a random blog or something -apologies for lack of credit to where I found it -I've had an intense urge to cut off all my hair.
Sort of like this Natalie Portman do...
with long bangs in the front, like Keira here, but mostly like the first picture.
Alas, I am one of those people who is way too attached to their hair. My favourite thing in the world to do with my hair which I've done since I was a baby (with my mum's hair) is to play with it, and put it up in buns and ponytails. I mean the very thought of cutting it short is forming a large, nervous pit in my stomach.

I did once cut my hair very short in grade 5, which I vowed never to do again when I look back at pictures.

I know some of you may be saying (*cough the three of you who read this*) I should just do it...it's only hair...it will grow back, but it's very likely I'll be unable to achieve the perfect look I'm picturing in my head, a problem I'm sure many of you face, and frankly I don't want to regret getting it cut. Plus, I am currently growing it out to achieve a sort of Cintia Dicker type look, which I'm sure is similarly impossible to achieve.
I suppose if I found some sort of combination where I could cut it as short as I could but with the ability to still put it up. Basically a more updated look of the haircut I got back in September.
Hair conundrum solved, I guess.

The forecast is picking up

Thank God.

It's been rainy and chilly the first few days of summer here, but on Sunday it's supposed to feel like 35 degrees. I don't mind marginally cold weather, since my favourite season is autumn. For the past couple of days I've been marveling at how fall-like it is, but I can only enjoy autumn after spending all summer in t-shirts and shorts.

On the other hand, the warmer weather means flip-flops and the ones I own give me blisters. Wonderful. So, I've been wearing my ballet flats around a lot, because they are easy to slip on.

If only I could be so fortunate to find shoes my inspiration Sofia Coppola has been sporting recently (although I'm guessing not too recently as I can no longer find the pictures of her wearing them)

Urban Outfitters is the only store where I've come across a decent look alike although Sofia's look much better.

Forever 21, where have you been all my life?

Apparently a Forever 21 store has recently set up shop in Toronto, which created some excitement among my friends who had visited the store in the States. Unfortunately, when my friends Lauren, Alie and Hengameh were in Toronto a few weeks ago to see the ballet, they were one day shy of seeing the open Forever 21 store. At some point we should be visiting it this summer, preferably towards the end so we can do some back to school shopping (blegh, sorry for bringing it up).

When I was looking through their site to browse their clothes...lets just say I fell in love.
Let's start off with summer-y stuff:

I'm becoming a big fan of halter tops with straps coming up from the neck. This shirt could be a great beach cover-up or a great party top.
I really like this for some reason. It looks like it has a slouchy loose-fitting quality which is great for unbearably hot summer days. I've just recently jumped on the tank top wagon, but the weather has been rather cold and rainy for the past few days.
I do not own a tube top, but I am very interested in purchasing one. I could also use it as a beach cover-up/party top in the summer and then layer it over shirts come colder weather. First a basic black one

A fun one

A pretty one, which would be more suited for parties

The next two items are summer-y in style, but they also give me a sort of autumn vibe.
I love this jacket, and I think it would also suit my friend Emily very well. So I get it in chocolate brown and she can get the one in her signature Emily red.
I think this is a fabulous cold weather dress that you could layer over jeans or thick stockings, with some long necklaces on top. And the orange is super fall-like. This ring would go great with the above dress.

Two pairs of sunglasses for $9. I could get these aviators and some imitation Ray-bans that you're seeing on every other hipster celebrity these days. Normally I don't follow trends like that, but they look uber-cool.

First things first...

Formal was last Friday and it was most excellent despite the drunkeness and awful, awful music. Everyone looked gorgeous, the highlight being seeing all the guys in their suits.
Les filles:
Les garçons:In my date's jacket:
I'd post close-up pictures of everybody in their dresses, but I'm not sure if I'm allowed.
Fortunately there were few over-processed hairstyles, although when I went to get my hair curled it was a huge helmet of hair at first, with enough hairspray to kill a small ecosystem. Never again will I do that...except for my wedding perhaps *le shrug*
